Chinese Conception Chart

The Chinese Conception Chart, also known as The Chinese Gender Chart or Chinese Pregnancy Calendar, is a popular and fun tool for parents to use. It is said to predict with an alarming degree of accuracy what gender a baby will be based on two important criteria.

One is the mother?s age when she conceived, or is planning to conceive, and the other is the month the baby was conceived. These two variables are said to hold the key to predicting if a boy or a girl is likely to be born. The tool can be used when planning for either a girl or a boy or, will give a clue of what gender to expect.

According to the chart, mothers of the same age are statistically more likely to have the same gender baby. Whether this is true or not, has been the subject of lots of debate.

Where Did it Come From?

The Chinese Conception chart has been in use for around 700 years. Apparently it was discovered in a tomb and has been circulating around the world ever since. If you?re keen to see the original, it?s located at The Beijing Institute of Science. But legend has it that this may be a fake and the actual original is too precious to share with the public. But regardless, of where it is, from tomb to womb, the Chinese Conception Chart is said to hold the answer which all parents seek.

How Does it Work?

If you can read a map and follow coordinates, then the Chinese Conception Chart shouldn?t be a challenge to decipher. First locate the age of the mother when she conceived and then trace a continuous line until it intersects with the month the baby was conceived. Either an F or an M will give you the answer. Some charts work a little differently by including a pink (girl) box or a blue (boy) box, just to make it a little clearer.
For the real purists though, the accuracy of the chart can be enhanced even more. By estimating the mother?s age in lunar months, rather than calendar years. For example, a lunar month is 29 days long; so, effectively, her lunar age works out to be older than her chronological age. Perhaps not a good thing, even if it is just temporary.

How Accurate is it?

Remember that this is intended to be a little harmless fun and not a guarantee that you will have a baby of the gender which the chart indicates. Statistically, there is a 50% chance that the chart will be right each and every time. But supporters of The Chinese Conception Chart say it is accurate up to 90% of the time. Who knows if this is the case? Even if it increases the accuracy a little, then it is bound to be interpreted as credible. But remember, there is no hard scientific evidence the Chinese Conception Chart works. View it with a sense of humour and not an iron clad guarantee.
